Again one of those venues in Shanghai that is hardly new, but definitely worth to be re-discovered: Kathleens 5 IS worth a visit. Located on the rooftop of the Shanghai Art Museum and with its glass walled dining room, it is an excellent location for sundowners and a date. There is hardly a restaurant around People's Square that could combine such a stunning view with a modern, still comfortable setting.

Kathleens has recently upgraded its kitchen and service (and plans to do so with the wine list) and presents some decent modern Mediterranean food: lamb, couscous, buffalo mozzarella, things done with goat cheese and aioli. No abracadabra on your plate, just fresh, simple, good dishes. At reasonable prices. Downside: desserts need still to be worked on.
