[My Weekender] with DEECEE

Out about about with David Cade - May 30, 08

David "DEECEE" Cade wears many hats: Chief Creative Ambassador of Worldwide Cocktail & Club Culture, international cocktail bartender and mixologist, freelance writer, DJ and vinyl collector, radio host and MC, entertainer, performer, world traveler, and "fun seeker."

Being the freelancing, fun-loving spirit that I am, chances are quite good that any day of the week could signify either the ending or the beginning of my weekend. But... supposing I actually begin my weekend on the actual weekend, this is a likely scenario:

I wake up with a heavy head to a typical Friday morning in Shanghai, the energy is in the air with the feeling of millions of people cramming to finish up their work week and join that 4:30pm rush to Friday night.

I probably went out the night before so I'm definitely in need of a fresh cucumber juice to help clear the pollution from my ever-so-polluted body and a second fresh orange/carrot/ginger or carrot/celery/olive oil juice to balance out my vitamin deficient body. I can get all of these at Taikang Lu, which is walking distance from my place on Shaanxi Lu and just knowing that I put something healthy in my body makes me feel much better about myself (at least mentally).

From there it's onwards to the office at Vinyl Group on Huangpi Lu to check my facebook, yahoo, gmail, smallworld, and vinyl-group email accounts, catch up on latest project developments, and share ideas and concepts of future projects with my boys.

We're working on developing "Playground Sound," which is a Saturday afternoon garden/terrace party tour of special venues in Shanghai. We're also broadcasting a radio show of the event every Saturday (repeated on Sunday) from 6pm to 11pm, in association with the internet electronic music radio station, udancecn.com.

Too often people ask me what I am going to do and where I am going to go, but I prefer not to know until the last minute. I am very "go-with-the-flow" and "let's-see-what-happens" cuz "life-is-like-a-box-of-chocolates" so "ya-never-know-whatcha-gonna-get"!

The evening arrives faithfully and punctually, and as usual there is absolutely no lack of things to do and places to go... and though I yearn for the new and inventive, I usually settle for getting drunk with friends at a private party -- either at mine or at one of my friends' homes -- or at spots such as URBN Hotel, Bar Rouge, Attica, The Collection, MAO. I usually end up having an amazing time which I will later not be able to recall to you due to memory loss... heeheehee...
