In Memoriam: Pierre Flaneur
The term Flaneur was popularized by... - By Hien, Oct 07, 08
It's a sad time for many of us here in Shanghai -- the thousands of people who were blessed with the opportunity to know and love Pierre Laret aka Pierre Flanuer, who passed away tragically and unexpectedly last Friday morning in Hong Kong.
He was a colossus not only in stature, but in spirit, and for his too-brief stay in Shanghai and on this earth, his enthusiasm, creativity, and love for life was deeply felt and appreciated by all who were lucky enough to have spent time with him.
To me, Pierre was like a teddy bear and I'll miss his kindness and sensitivity most.
Here's to a good mate and a dear friend. Pierre, you leave us with a void that cannot be filled.
Friends are sharing their grief, sadness, respect, support, and fondest memories of Pierre at this
Facebook group page, and there's also a wake planned for Wednesday night at 7pm. Click on this
Facebook page for more info.

One last time...
"The term flaneur was popularized by the poet Baudelaire in the 19th century, meaning someone who is wandering the streets, not with the intent of getting somewhere, but as an observer and philosopher."
