MP3 Monday: Live and Undead

MP3 Monday is a weekly SmartShanghai column, serving up mp3s from bands living and making music in China (or coming to China, or thinking about coming to China, or whatever). Right click on the links and choose "Save Link As..." to download 'em. Click play to rock 'em.

So this weeks MP3s have been cobbled together in anticipation of the big S.T.D. "Live and Undead" Halloween rawk concert this Friday at Yuyintang. Along with the usual super star DJs, the show with feature three bands: SUBS, Boys Climbing Ropes, and Yellow Riot.

If you're new in town, this concert is the second "Live and Undead" Halloween show organized by the S.T.D., and the one last year was turbo sweet. Here is a picture gallery of that one. It was at 4Live, which has since shut down, and had Horror Business, a Misfits tribute band, and Banana Monkey (rumors of their demise greatly exaggerated we hear).

Anyways, the one this year will feature Beijing punk band magnifique SUBS, along with local indie rock band Boys Climbing Ropes, and "Yellow Riot," a Clash tribute band comprised of members of The Mortal Fools and The Rogue Transmission.

In lieu of having an actual MP3 from Yellow Riot, for your listening pleasure is "Complete Control" �C one of my fav Clash songs. I would imagine Yellow Riot would be covering that one; it would be a huge, huge, huge, huge oversight if they didn't.

Also, in the interests of full disclosure, the author is in the second band on this list -- but he's also going to go ahead and fully disclose their awesomeness as well.
