Here are some Independence Day bashes and BBQs in Shanghai.

This is YOUR DAY, America. Go out. Have a good time. You're doing fine. In terms of countries you're like the Dallas Cowboys of the world.

And hey, even if you're not American feel free to go out all the same.

Don't worry. They'll get to you eventually.

AmCham Shanghai 4th of July Celebration @ Le Meridien She Shan

AmCham does the biggest one every year -- I'm pretty sure it's the main responsibility of AmCham: a big-ass Independence Day party. Anyways, it's a family orientated affair at the 5-star resort, Le Meridien She Shan, Shanghai. Games, prizes, food, drink, live music, and more. There's a lot of ins and outs to this thing -- group rates, family packages, hotel stay packages -- so if you're looking to go, head off to the AmCham page for more information. Advance RSVP is required.

The king of the grill for that one is Chef Biggie from Pinnacle Peak. Good times.

3rd Annual White Trash July 4 Bash @ I Love Shanghai

I Love Shanghai with the trifecta. This is their third annual White Trash July 4th and they've perfected the formula: lots of costumes, add alcohol to taste. Expect the rabid chanting of USA! USA! interspersed with the suggestions to CHUG, CHUG. This one is more of a late night, all-night party after you're done with the BBQ elsewhere. 100rmb all you can drink from 10pm ¨C 2am. But they¡¯re also having wings and assorted snacks. Bar manager Jeff has a new bandana that he will unveil on the night, and apparently it's "even better than [his] USA one."

Independence Day Bar-B-Que @ Southern Belle

New deep south bar Southern Belle hosts a southern tinged July 4 party, emphasizing BBQ, beer, and bourbon. Burgers, dogs, chicken wings, grilled veg and potato salad from 12pm until 8pm. Happy hour priced on house pours, wines, and Budweiser. Highlights of the American canon on the television: Dukes of Hazzard and so on. Music is French lounge.

Just kidding. It's like Skynard and CCR and stuff.

Barbie Que Party @ The Barbie Caf¨¦

Barbie dolls: about as American as apple pie and carpet bombing. The Barbie Cafe up there in the Barbie Store is throwing a wonderful sounding "Barbie Que" (you see what they did there?) with corn on the cob, potato salad, all-American burgers, grilled hot dogs, and more. Sounds sexy. In an empowering way. 85rmb per person (minimum 2 people), 45rmb for kids.

The Shanghaiist's 4th of July Party @ Boxing Cat (Fuxing Lu)

Fantastic website Shanghaiist throws down for charity with a big 4 of July BBQ party at the new Boxing Cat Brewery on Fuxing Lu. The 50rmb cover (one drink incl.) gets you access to a succulent BBQ, live music, drinks, and copious raffling. Raffling with almost total impunity. The main event is a beer chugging relay for charity. Go get wasted for schools in Ulumuqi or something. Bless. Runs from 12pm until 6pm.

American Independence Bash @ Bulldog

The Bulldog tends to throw parties for every country's independence day, from Azerbaijan on through to Zaire, but this is the big leagues; this is America, man. Bulldog is therefore doing not one but two days of American fervour on both Friday and Saturday. Buy one, get one free hot dogs, burgers, booze. Live band, fireworks, and two days of USA, USA, USA. Opens at 11am both days, closes late.

Fourth of July BBQ @ Sashas and Zapata's

Sasha's and Zapata's are combining like VOLTRON to throw a joint July 4 BBQ. Three all you can eat, drink, options on one big patio: 180rmb gets you an "American BBQ" from Sasha's and free flow Stella Draft. Alternatively, 150rmb gets you a Mexican BBQ with unlimited Coronas. The third option is paying 300rmb and border jumping all over that party -- unlimited everything. Runs from 3pm until 10pm.

Legends: USA @ Malone's Tongren and Malone's Thumb Plaza

Ground zero for Americans in Shanghai, the Malone¡¯s pub and restaurant is hosting a full day of eating and drinking for the U, S, A. Drinks specials, food specials and a live band doing classic American covers. BBQ meats and sides start around 75rmb Buckets Of 4 Bud are 100rmb. Outdoor BBQ at the Pudong location.
