Today's MP3 Monday is rather a special one, because we've got some tracks from the new 7-track E.P. Hao Ting from Rankadank records. Herein are two downloads from the E.P. and the download link for the rest. Yep, the whole thing for free.
About this label, Rankadank: Rankadank was created in March 2010 by globe-trotting producer ConRank, a UK native that frequently runs through town on his way back and forth from Taiwan to the UK. He was last playing in Shanghai on the Antidote stage at this year's JZ Festival, and has a booking on December 25 at The Shelter at the end of this year, along with upcoming bookings in Malaysia and Taiwan. His own music productions run into more chilled, organic drum n bass terrain ("autonomic drum n bass" is what they're calling it these days), belying a background appreciation in heritage hip hop and even some new wave. When he's playing out, you can expect anything from classic hip hop to dancehall to a bass-heavy DnB assault. SmartShaghai talked to ConRank about it a little while back. Anyway's, Rankadank is his own label, originally intended as a way to keep his own music streaming out there, but coming up on 2011, he's signed on various other producers from all over the place, widening the scope of the music to dubstep, drumstep and drum n bass proper. Rankadank is now working with a budding line-up of producers including Blynk, Winnie, Koya, Drifta, Didje and Steven Lorenz. Those last two are based in Shanghai, so there's your local connection.
So the tracks today are from Hao Ting, a seven-song E.P. primer of this expanded roster of producers working with ConRank and Rankadank.
