Tomorrow evening (August 4th, 7pm) the solo exhibition of Hamburg-based fine-art photographer Andreas Kohler opens at 1918 ArtSPACE Warehouse on West Suzhou Creek in the city's slightly smellier north (about the only anything within walking distance of my apartment). Each of the 30 works fit into one of the four series shown - "Wrinkled Alabaster" (introduced to the public for the first time), "Alabaster Bodies" (which Mr. Kohler himself looks like he should be posing for), "In the neighbourhood" and "Cologne Opera". Each collection portrays individuals from "different corners of the German society in Europe." Already successful at a smooth-skinned 27 years of age, having won the Epson Art Photo Award last year and being featured in publications across Europe over the past decade, he seems to know how to have fun along the way - our intern spotted Mr. Kohler Jacuzzi-splashing at an undisclosed Shanghai venue last night.. nice one.
