The devastating hangover finally abated,
pictures are now available of the Shanghai stop of the
42 Below Cocktail World Cup. This boozy affair brought together ten of the best mixologists in the city, as well as 300 cocktail ... enthusiasts ...aboard the "good ship
Bar Rouge." When the dust finally settled and the bleary-eyed judges tallied the scores, it was Cross of
Vault bar who walked away with the title, wining with his sinful "42 Hot Pot Choc Martini." He will be joined by second place finisher Alex of
Volar and Beijing champ Johnson of Aria to comprise Team China at the 42 Below World Cup later this year in New Zealand.
This is the fourth year of 42 Below World Cup and the first in which mainland China has sent their own team to the final. Taking place from September 9 to 16 in Queenstown, New Zealand, competitors from all over the world will be present, including bartenders, sorry
mixologists, from the US, UK, Australia, Japan and Dubai. Many events lie between the teams and the title, no less of which is the "Jet boat Shaking" event, which has the competitors shaking up drinks aboard speeding jet boats. China's bid for cocktail supremacy amongst the world elite indicates the growing popularity of cocktail culture in the country or, at least, that people here like to get blasted on some quality hooch.
Intrepid journalist that she is, Ciga of

No doubt she's in for the test of her career as she tracks down every lead, taps all her sources and tips back the world's finest alcoholic beverages in her effort to bring you THE SCOOP.
