Four-deck DJ Jeff Milligan brings his trademark clicks and pops to Shanghai tomorrow night as the city's long standing micro party breaks cover to mount another minimal mission after a three-month hiatus.

The technical trickster will be in town this Saturday for microair and spoke to SmartShanghai about minimal techno, China, Japan, electronic music, Vinyl vs. MP3, and a whole lot else besides.

Milligan, making his first trip to China, says he is a "big critic of today's minimal scene," arguing that the proliferation of records and releases tagged "minimal" makes it harder to find good records. Part of the problem he feels, is that the audience is rarely encouraged to find out more about the music ¨C regardless of whether they are Chinese or from anywhere else in the world.


But despite only being in a country for a week, Milligan seems to have developed a surprisingly good feel for the Shanghai
