This week's CD giveaway is an inscrutable little three-disc package billed as a collaboration between YOUR Hi Note records and a fashion design label called Mark Fairwhale. As far as I can gather, Mark Fairwhale is a fashion brand from designer Mark Cheung, comprised of clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and other assorted baubles and knick-knacks.
Anyways, the accompanying booklet gives you a retrospective of his stuff for the past couple of years, and the three CDs are comprised of music inspired by his stylistic sensibilities.
The discs adopt as their binding concept the mind-boggling phrase, "Fly Me to The Dream," and feature house, lounge and hip-hop: Velocity, Groove Lovers, David Morales, Le Posee, -hello? - Husky Rescue ¨C any of this - Five Corners Quintet, Collete, -ringing any bells? -and Akmusique.
The press release delves further into this collaboration between fashion house and record distributor to elucidate: "The music delivers the concept of the clothes, making it more elfin and innovative. The clothes characterize the music, making it more rich. The combination works the magic that is 1+1 > 2."
So I think the idea is that you're supposed to wear the clothes and listen to the music at the same time to get the full experience - an experience which will bestow a magic that is < 2. But we're only giving away the CDs. So that means you're at 1 < x < 2, if you manage to email us in time to get one of these things. Sorry.
