All-through (ages 2-18) international school in the Nord Anglia group with a campus in Puxi. British teachers deliver the National Curriculum for England and the International Primary Curriculum. Cambridge IGCSE, A level and IB courses are offered at secondary level. The school offers a range of enrichment options (over 260 extra-curricular activities) and collaborates with global educational institutions such as MIT, Juilliard and UNICEF. There’s a strong focus on entry to international universities.
Co-educational, all-through (ages 3-18) day school founded in 1998. CISS is affiliated with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The campus is in Jinqiao, with ten acres of indoor and outdoor facilities, including several maker spaces and labs designed for hands-on work in 3D printing, coding, robotics and cooking. The American curriculum is followed, including AP. There’s also a focus on applied learning, giving students practical experience in fields such as enterprise, and over 175 co-curricular activities to choose from.
All-through (PK-3 to Grade 12) international school founded in 1912. SAS students follow the American curriculum; AP and IB courses are available at secondary level. One campus is just west of Hongqiao Railway Station, and the other is in Pudong. Over 150 extra-curricular activities are offered. Their Hongqiao campus has its own performing arts center.
International school with a campus at the western edge of Minhang. WISS was founded in 2006 as an all IB-environment school. It offers the full IB program from the primary years (PYP) to the diploma program (DP) in 2012. It is also the only IB full continuum school in Shanghai that is authorized to offer the specialized IB career-related education (CP) in the secondary years. The school hosts the UK registered International School's Theatre Association (ISTA) as well as the Stoke City Football Camp Academy.

All-through (ages 2-18) British international school in Gubei, offering a course of study based on the English National Curriculum. This incorporates IGCSE, AS and A2 qualifications. Teachers are all native English speakers, most of whom are British. Over 100 extra-curricular activities are offered. The school is part of the Orbital Education group.
All-through (ages 2-17) international school established in 1996, with campuses in Hongqiao and Pudong. SCIS adopted certified International Baccalaureate programming in 2008 and, as of 2017, became a full continuum IB world school (including the PYP, MYP and DP). Fees are comparable to other international schools, but are inclusive of comparatively more, from uniforms to lunches and even MacBooks for older students.
Shanghai branch of the British boarding school, based in the New Bund area. Wellington is a co-educational, all-through (ages 3-18) school with day and boarding options. Pupils follow the English National Curriculum and the International Primary Curriculum initially; IGCSE and the IBDP are offered to high school students.
All-through private French language school with campuses in Qingpu and Pudong. The schools are managed by the Managing Committee of the Parents’ Association, and appointed by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE, Agence pour l’enseignement français à l’étranger). Students follow the French curricula.
All through German language school with two locations in Shanghai, one in Pudong and one in Puxi. Both German Abitur and International Baccalaureate curriculum are taught. The main language of instruction is German, and a range of extra-curricular activities is offered. Facilities include a large German-language library, sports grounds, an indoor gym, swimming pool and theater.
All-through (K-12) school established in 1996, with campuses in Minhang and Xuhui. The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) are taught at middle and high school. There are also enrichment options such as a community program; there’s a health-screening program, too.
International all-through (ages 2—18) school chain established in 1993. YCIS operate four campuses situated across Puxi and Pudong. A YCIS-developed curriculum is taught until the age of 14, based around US, UK, Canadian and Australian curricula. The schools then offer the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) at middle and high school levels.
All-through Shanghai branch of Dulwich College London. There are two campuses in Shanghai: one in Pudong and the other in Puxi. The school follows the English National Curriculum and International Baccalaureate program in the secondary school.
All-through (ages 2—18) international bilingual school located in Changning. The school follows the American Advanced Placement (AP) program and California Curriculum. Additional activities such as summer schools and sports are also offered.
Mainland China’s only United World College, located around 110km from Shanghai in Changshu. In-keeping with the other UWCs around the world, UWC Changshu offers a two-year International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program (DP) and a one-year Pre-DP program. There’s also a range of enrichment opportunities on offer for students. Entry requirements for UWCs are generally high.
