Through All Ages
No. 210, Lane 2255 Luoshan Lu, near Huamu Lu, Pudong District
罗山路2255弄210号, 近花木路
The inaugural offerings from one of Shanghai's newest museums, Through All Ages comprises four distinct sections: Contemporary, Modern, Revolutionary and Traditional Chinese Art. All are strong, but it's the Mao era works that really stand out. Featuring posters, oil paintings and sculpture, they evoke the political hopes and ultimately propaganda of a fascinating era of Chinese history. Other highlights include a Song dynasty scroll depicting rare birds, executed by none other than Emperor Huizong.
