A solo show of works by Nanjing-based artist Tang Guo opens at Shanghart Gallery in May. As with his previous exhibitions, The Rhymes of Ruin focuses on traditional Chinese paintings and its materials, taking a contemporary stance on the ancient artform. His latest video work The Rhymes of Ruins is a stop-motion animation film based on black and white photography, featuring compositions of natural materials such as dead branches and dry leaves.
