'Tell Me a Story: Locality and Narrative' Group Show
Don't miss this one. Rockbund Art Museum's group exhibition, Tell Me a Story: Locality and Narrative sees artists from across Asia share stories from distinct regional cultures. Through the exploration of personal ties between artist and environment, each work reveals a side of Asia often left unseen and unheard. With that in mind, Apichatpong Weerasethakul's video installation Fireworks takes viewers on a surreal night-journey through a temple on the border of Northern Thailand. Lit by flashes of light, the work is suggestive of the fires of war and 1970s bombing by US military. Elsewhere, Japanese photographer Tomoko Yoneda captures the past and present of long deserted Sakhalin Island. Recommended.
