About

Otherwise known as Chinese New Year, it's the start of a new lunar year, and China's biggest and most important festival. 2018 is the Year of the Earth Dog, according to the traditional zodiac. Expect train, bus and plane tickets to sell out or skyrocket in price as the largest human migration on Earth occurs, with everyone heading back to their home towns to see family, drink, eat obscene amounts of food, and half-heartedly watch the annual TV Gala. A lot of places will remain open throughout the city, but we recommend you call ahead to make sure. Make-up days this year are Sunday, February 11 and Saturday, February 24. 新年快乐!
