Riccardo Muti & Chicago Symphony Orchestra
One of the world's preeminent conductors, Neapolitan-born Riccardo Muti has been the tenth music director of the renowned 127-year-old Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 2010. With more than 40 years of experience helming up the likes of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra, he's been knighted in Italy, the UK and France and received a host of honors elsewhere. They're in town for two days. On January 22, they're performing Brahms' "Symphony No. 1 & 2". On January 23, it's Tchaikovsky's "Symphony No. 5", and Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade".
