The Maybock season is the time of Paulaner Bräuhaus Shanghai’s May “Festbier” (lit.: festival beer). Traditionally this special brew is served at the opening of the beer garden season at the beginning of May in Germany. Therefore, many Bavarian breweries celebrate the tradition of maypole setting in the days around the 1st of May together with the ceremonial tapping of the first barrel of May Festbier. Freshly brewed in the brand’s own microbreweries, the May Festbier is a copper-colored festival beer with a concentrated aroma, strong alcohol content and 14.5% gravity. It is still as strong as a traditional bock beer but lighter in color and with a fine aroma of hops that matches perfect with the strong malty notes. To share this seasonal beer with all beer lovers, all four Paulaner Bräuhaus Shanghai branches will once again serve the popular May Festbier from May 1, 2019 onwards.
