The world-renowned artist and UNESCO Global Goodwill Ambassador Tan Dun has made an indelible mark on the world's music scene. Responsible for the soundtracks of Grammy and Academy Award winning movies "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," he's most recently been named Dean of the Bard College Conservatory of Music. In this rare opportunity to the see the man himself at work over two days. On Thursday, June 20, he'll be conducting the Orchestre National De Lyon in a performance of his 'music ritual' dedicated to the Buddha and the Mogao caves, entitled "Buddha Passion." They'll be accompanied by a choir that includes soprano Guo Sen and Tuvan throat singer Batbagen, as well as dancer Chen Yinin. On Friday, June 21, he'll lead French guest musicians in a performance of pieces by Debussy, Ravel, and himself, entitled "French Rhapsody."
