Tiger & Tiger Tale
Visually stunning and innovative, Tiger & Tiger Tale is a moving contemporary dance piece co-created by writer Robert Alan Evans and choreographer Natasha Gilmore. The story portrays a dysfunctional family whose three members, Mom, Dad and their daughter Poppy, have become unable to love each other. Mom spends her day cleaning obsessively, while Dad is buried in his work. Both are too wrapped up in their own lives to notice that their daughter is lonely and unhappy. Enter the tiger. At first only Poppy (and the audience) can hear it, but it lights up the stage and playfully dances around in its cage, eventually allowing the family to reconnect. Glasgow-based Barrowland Ballet is one of Scotland's most exciting and successful contemporary dance companies touring nationally and internationally, and will be performing Tiger & Tiger Tale at The Shanghai Grand Theatre once on November 20 then again on November 24 as part of Shanghai Grand Theatre's International Theatre Season.
