Clouds of Crowds

This promotion/event has finished

Shanghai's multimedia art hub on Suzhou Creek is determined to remind us of our individuality in the midst of massive crowds. Using motion and music, the exhibited works unite to show how a crowd will appear to obey random rules, like clouds blown away by the wind. The big opening bash for this exhibition is tonight at 8pm.

Down the alley of number 120, Moganshan Road, Island6Lab is putting together one of its last exhibitions before moving to a new and bigger space. This unique multimedia experience, Clouds of Crowds, invites the spectator to dive into melting existences and get lost and blurred into whispers, reflections, ghosts and unconsciousness. The merging of living bodies, just like the one of clouds in the sky, obeys random rules, which the artworks presented in the exhibition try to decode.

Works include interactive sculptures by Zhu Ye (CN) and Christophe Demaître (BE), video LEDs by Yang Longhai (CN) and Zou Susu (CN), interactive mirrors by Wang Dongma (CN), sound-based artworks by Manels Favre (FR) and Tom Lee Petterson (US), wind-controlled video by Rob Smith (UK).

Once again, Island6 is investigating new dimensions of creativity and invites the spectator to interact with the artistry, or even become a part of it. The digital show will be spiced up by conceptual dance performance by nunu (CN) and live aeolian beats DJ-ing by Doraemoon (Acid Pony Club, FR). Curated by Thomas Charveriat (FR), artistically directed by Zane Mellupe (LV) and co-ordinated by Thomas Begault (BE) and Hugo Bourgade (FR).
