2008 marks the 11th Shanghai International Film Festival, hereon referred to only as SIFF. SIFF shows a mixed bag of artsy films and blockbusters for two weeks every June. Many movies fall just short of deserving the moniker "film;" while others are dastardly. Gems do exist. Inconsistencies notwithstanding, the SIFF surpasses expectations for a government run affair.
