Business Development Manager

  • Assists in the development and implementation of business development plans for targeting key industries and markets of focus for firm’s core practice groups
  • Identifies clients within key areas of specialty and develops applicable sales strategy for each
  • Participates in the development and implementation of the strategic plans for the office. Provides input to plans based on market research
  • Responsible for researching new business potential and developing new leads, with a focus on specific practices as assigned
  • Conducts market research and gathers information on potential clients and projects
  • Understands and responds to potential clients’ needs and objectives
  • Researches cross-marketing opportunities within firm’s existing client base
  • Responsible for identifying, developing, and/or maintaining client contacts with key prospects
  • Facilitates relationship-building activities and assists with the development of key client relationship management skill sets for technical staff
  • Actively involved in several professional and civic organizations, often in a leadership role
  • Participates in the development of proposal strategy and may assist in writing proposal sections and preparing qualification packages
  • Assists in organizing presentation preparation sessions. Helps coach technical staff for interviews. Attends presentations as needed or requested
REQUIREMENTS
  • Experienced in making cold calls for business development purposes
  • Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
  • Proficient in using the internet for research
  • General understanding of relational databases (e.g., Deltek CRM)
  • General understanding of lead tracking software/databases (e.g., Upshot)
  • Strong project management and organizational skills. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and set priorities
  • Self-starter, strong work ethic and high energy level. Good team work spirit
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, at all levels of the organization
  • Presents complex issues/data with high level of clarity and impact
  • Matches communication mode and message to client/customer
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in the design industry preferably in -interior Design Firm, with at least 1 years experience in a professional services marketing and/or business development role required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Architecture or Engineering discipline or related field preferred
