SmartShanghai.com is expanding, and we are looking for an experienced Sales Manager to help us grow our business. Based in our downtown office in Shanghai, the right candidate will be working with the Business Director on improving and expanding our current business, advancing and executing new sales channels.
You'll be part of a small, integrated, mixed team with native English-speaking and Chinese editors, graphic designers, and account managing business-types. Someone who can sell – you are outgoing, talkative, smart, like to meet people, and can convince them that buying advertisements with us will have a positive return on their investment. We don’t do any cold calling, but it’s still important that you don’t mind picking up the phone and call someone to close a deal. It’s important that you are outgoing and a social butterfly. You need to meet, meet, meet people and get our name and our products out there, without being obnoxious. That requires some work on evenings and weekends, going to events and schmoozing with the people who make Shanghai run.
Then there’s a more administrative side to this job where you’ll be working with the accountant on issuing invoices and making sure payments get made on time.
A large number of our clients are small and medium local businesses, but you’ll also be working with corporate clients and advertisement agencies on building long term relationships with SmartShanghai and our sister sites, so it’s important to us that you have good social skills and are familiar with the ins and outs of the corporate world.
You should enjoy working with numbers, creating reports for the management and our clients, and you need to be able to read and understand advertisement analytics.
