As the name suggests the Okura Garden Hotel is a Japanese hotel. Located deep in the heart of the French Concession this hotel makes a perfect choice for visitors looking to soak up some real history and culture. Its 1920's art deco design in both the entrance and garden are something of an architectural landmark in the city, however the hotel does have something of a dated feel to it.

Upper crust of the teppanyaki world, with 600-700rmb per person price tags. Primarily a haunt of businessmen, but that location, up there on the top of the Okura, looking out over the French Concession, is pretty lovely for a griddled, flipped, and flamed splurge.
