I was originally going to write this column last weekend which was definitely a very big weekend. Aussie Drinks had their first event of 2009 at new venue Kakadu on Friday evening, Jon White was back in Shanghai for a classic set at M1NT and M on the Bund threw an amazing party to celebrate their 10th birthday. Although the outlook for this weekend is not as exciting as the last one, there's always plenty to fill the time between Friday afternoon and Monday morning in the city that never sleeps.

This weekend started with a bit of a bang on Thursday night with the weekly 100rmb open bar at The Spot, always guaranteed to make a mess of Friday! Wise to make sure that no meetings are planned early on Friday morning! The weekend will kick off for real when around 20 of us get together for an all you can eat and drink Teppanyaki. Generally a very messy affair with way too much saki and plum wine, but a great way to get everyone in the mood for a party!

Once everyone is overfed and lubricated, we will all be moving on to M1NT for Jon White's second outing at the club. Friday night is very rarely complete without a visit to Velvet, so that is likely to be on the cards later. I'll try to get out of there before closing time to avoid Tommy's 'ladies and gentlemen, please...
