Currently, SmSh has listings for around 4,000 restaurants, clubs, stores, and other various venues around Shanghai. We use a sophisticated search program that enables users to reach the venues they’re looking for, even if the spell the name wrong in our search field. That’s pretty neat.

Listing charges

All basic venue listings are free of charge and independent of paid advertising. As such, they are qualified as “editorial content” and SmartShanghai retains the right to rewrite venue listing submissions.

To help ensure the continued success of SmartShanghai, please feel free to keep us informed of changes in venue information. Please email SmartShanghai's listing manager at listings @ smartshanghai . com if you find outdated information in any of your listings.

User reviews

Registered SmartShanghai users can submit venue reviews for all restaurants and clubs listed on SmartShanghai. Our editorial team monitors the quality of user reviews, however we do not remove reviews on request of venue owners unless the reviews are unrealistically damaging to specific venue. More on our review policies and guidelines here.

Apply for a venue listing on SmSh

Venue listings include restaurants, bars, cafes, clubs, shops, hotels, hospitals, and other service-orientated businesses. Listings contain general information about the venue, such as addresses and opening hours, plus additional information written by the editorial staff of SmartShanghai.com here or here.

After the venue listing has been posted on the website, they can be accessed by searching for the name, or by browsing through the listings by category or tag.

Venue listings are free of charge. Submissions are usually processed within 1-2 working days.


SmartShanghai lists venues without phrases such as "Cafe & Lounge,” "Spanish Cuisine"…

please include all neccessary information such Building number, Room number, cross-street


for club listings please include the phone number for table reservations

e.g. Tue-Sun 1pm-11pm

e.g. None, Local cards accepted, Local and international cards accepted

for bars and clubs: beer/cocktail/spirits; restaurants: wine/main course/dessert…

(if applicable), plus approx walking time.

e.g. "call ahead to reserve tables on the window-front", or "don't miss the Blueberry cake"

public sites only: no MySpace, Facebook, etc.
