Franck Pecol of Franck Bistro branches out with Mexican cuisine with this rooftop taco stand. "Artisinal" is the culinary buzzword Pecol uses to describe them. It's a fair description. Everything, from the tortillas to the hot sauce, is made from scratch. The menu is small enough to fit on a small strip of paper and features a few classic tacos like an al pastor (roasted pork with grilled pineapple) and carne de res (beer marinated skirt steak with onions and cilantro). he does a few exotic varieties, too, like octopus or slow-cooked shredded duck. In addition to tacos, other snacks like ceviche and quesadillas are available. There are Mexican beers and margaritas to drink, of course. Being on the roof affords diners sweeping views of Xuhui's tree-lined neighborhoods and the skyscrapers off in the distance. Seating is 100 percent outdoors, though, so La Taqueria is a seasonal restaurant, and is closed in the winter.
