Super popular bar / restaurant / lounge by nightclub brand Muse Group and Grey Goose vodka, right by the Rockbund Art Museum. Good design, good drinks, great food. They specialize in vodka-based cocktails (60-80rmb) and high-end bar food like oysters and steaks. Music is indie rock like The Smiths and Interpol played at a reasonable volume early but sometimes they get into turnt up electronic music later in the night. Still, this is a lounge, not a club, and a fine place to start a night on the Bund. Unlike a lot of Bund bars, this one is nice but still laid back, and they do not enforce a strict dress code. As of March, 2016 they also do brunch on Sundays.

After arriving there was a bit of misunderstanding due to misspelling of my name on the reservation (Tim became Gim, no joke) but this was quickly resolved. The drinks / cocktail menu is extensive (what do you expect from a lounge bar by Grey Goose Vodka) and we ordered each a cocktail (I recommend The Fly By). The Food menu on the ipad is cool and comprehensive, ordered 2 starters (finger food) and the tenderloin... There is sufficient staff and they are all friendly and supportive, but when using a digital menu, why not update real time if an item is not available? No tenderloin...then a rib eye. Ordered as: medium. The starters arrived (salmon platter and shrimp on toast) which tasted very good and made us looking forward to the main course... Which arrived as raw, not medium. Had it sent back to receive it raw again, so had it sent back again...third time it was medium raw and we were building up an appetite and ate it. Tasted very good. But the additional side dishes are for 48 rmb a piece too small...dont order those. The manager came bye to ask us about the rib eye and we explained after which they offered on the house desserts for both of us, happily accepted. The desserts were good, a bit overpriced if they are not on the house but good. Overall I can advise you to go there for drinks with fingerfood, for a great dinner, there are better and cheaper (value for money) places.
I wish I could live there

How to describe my evening at The Nest... refreshing? Everytime I go out in Shanghai, I brace myself for discomfort and/or disappointment. Not here. Everything about this place is on point. I know 5/5 seems unreasonable, but 4.99 isn't an option.

The highlights for me were the rib-eye platter, the Coco Django, and the music. I heard Alt-J, the Arctic Monkeys, and Spoon while I was in there. You know, just some head-bobbin tunes soft enough to talk over.

The rib-eye was tender enough to cut with a fork. It came with 4 optional toppings. They were so good, my date was still eating them after the beef was gone.

We must have tried 6 cocktails, all very nice and absolutely worth the price. The best drink we had between us was the Coco Django. Not sure what Jamie Foxx' best character has to do with a rum, vodka, and curry (ya dude) cocktail, but they could call it horseshit and I'd buy it. Masculinity be damned.

The service was almost TOO good. During our meal we had 3 managers ask us how things were. At some point we asked if they had matches, they don't yet, and 2 people came over to apologize.

Best to make a reservation. We didn't, so we sat at a high table and were very jealous of the people lounging by the fireplace. Yep, there's even a fireplace.
