Equally loved and despised by much of Shanghai's partisan nightlife public, Windows has stood by its formula of cheap drinks and blaring commercial hip-hop with years of continued success. Nearly always jam packed with a mix of young locals and expats and open very late, Windows makes for a convenient last stop for one more drink or a desperate hook up.
Really a cheap bar, full of local younglings and foreigners.
always plays the same commercial HIPHOP music. however, the stairs outside the bar is a little dangerous and horrilbe if you drink too much~ haha
This place represents some of the best value i have encountered during my time in shanghai. The drinks are cheap and the beers are actually cold!. The meals are great value. The set menu has steak, lamb chops, curries etc. for 25 rmb, and a burger for 10 RMB. The crowd here are always pretty fancy free and not as pretentious as some other western type bars.
Went recently for the first time since it's move. The vibe is a little bit different, the dancefloor is in the wrong place (by the bar), but it's still good for partying without the pretention that's the scourge of many of Shanghai's party places. Cleaner, brighter, nice outdoor bit, stools that are great for sitting but horrible for hitting your shin against(!), and oh my god toilets that aren't like a free-for-all pisshouse. Overall, good times.
hey men, this place it's reeeealy gooood!!! u can relax there, just take it easy. Really cheap bar, the most cheapest in shanghai! Especially vodka. Good music, good dj's. It's always crowded, stuff is kind. It's my favorite bar in Shanghai. Great and impressive!
People keep on dissin this place hey talk lots of bullshits about this place..actually its not that bad, they say music is too commercial..blahh blahh blahhh..they dont know music at all..Windows DJ's are 1 of the finest Hip Hop Dj's in Shanghai..
Keep up the good work guys..nevermind those Beefs..
it's the bomb...the place if u wanna get crunked...but be patient,it doesnt concentrate on 1 side hip hop/music only..wait for your beat..
Totally different from the old 1..they're playin dirty south now, which we love me and my crew....
The new Windows across the street just isn't the same, not sure why, but the vibe is completely different. Better off going to Scoreboard or a late night club
I was visiting Shanghai recently. Went to several bars/clubs, only to find the standard techno/disco music that seems to be played at every dance club in China. The last night that I was there, which was a MONDAY, I accidentally ended up in Windows in Jing'an park. Holy cow, I could not believe how packed this place was on a weekday. Tons of people, mostly 20 somethings, 20% to 30% non-Asian population. I've also been told that many Chinese that go to this place are exchange students from outside of China. Many shots to choose from starting at RMB, which is about .5 USD. In other words, cheap drinks!! The other bars that I visited in Shanghai cost at least twice as much. One review said the shots tasted bad, but mine actually tasted better than what I had at the other bars. DJ spinned hip hop music all night. Plenty of pretty and graceful female faces/bodies dancing, although in general the quality of the clubbers' skills do leave something to be desired. This was the only club in Shanghai that I went to that reminded me of nightlife in the USA, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys HIP HOP music and super AFFORDABLE drinks.
I was there 3 weeks ago and the cocktails were really horrible. They were not the same as we had in the Windows(huaihai road). So I had to stop ordering cocktails and only drink baileys.
I also got water dribbling from the ceiling which was disgusting.
The only good things was the cheap price for the beer which my bf liked, and the R&B music I liked. I know most of the songs they play which was great.
I might go to explore another two windows that I haven't been to, but not the one in Jing'an,sorry!
I started going out a couple of weeks ago, but so far Windows has been the only place that I've visited, well, besides Babyface which had good music but not a good mix as far as the crowd is concerned. Windows is okay as a startup or wind down for the night but I think if you go there too much it has that "Cheers" affect, "where everybody knows your name"...I want to meet more people and experience different spots. I feel TRAPPED!! lol, but seriously, where are the cool places to visit with RnB/Hip-Hop/Dancehall/Top 40/Etc.?
i went there on sunday night after i heard that its the only club that is busy that day and crowdy
and it was true
great friendly people
great music
cheap drinks
i felt like i knew every1 in there
if u like hip hop/rnb you should go there and party
you wont regret it
ps
the only bad think isthe toilets
VERY smelly
actually windows Jing An now charges 50 kuai to get in on the weekend, and drinks are not all 10-kuai anymore (you can only get coors light or some cheaper shots for 10, a better beer/mixed drink/shot is now 20 or more...)it is still cheap mind you but not as cheap as it once was...people still haven't figured either this or the fact that windows plays the same commercial hip-hop songs every night of the week out yet, and hence the place is still always packed.
