Great place to discover with friends... Taojiang Lu South Beauty cuisine is better for food... Yan'an lu is better for atmosphere and ambiance...

Sadly, this place is nothing more than a scam. Although the interior and ambience is appealing, it doesn't make up for scandalous charges for water (RMB 88)and wine (RMB 480 for cheapest Ozzie fare). When we tried to complain about the service, we were told 'no point speaking to Singaporean manager, he gonna be fired next month" Awful, never going back again.

It seems they almost got smart and hired a western manager (European I think) but then after installing the 'showdog' they still haven't figured out how to listen to him on service, manners, and the rest of what makes a fine dining venue. The food quality and service just doesn't come close to matching the beautiful surrounding....try again and this time LISTEN.

walking into the place with jeans and a tank, my friend and i thought we were at the wrong place..it seemed like a really elegant with a formal dress code kinda place..but as soon as the owner spotted us he informed us that there were people wearing sneakers inside. he was pesistent that we come in and take a look, he gave my friend a lame compliment saying that her lips look glossy..well we went in anyways and ended up having quite an interesting night..i met an asian girl and became best friends immediately..we snuck into the kitchen ate some cucumbers grabbed martini glasses, and by the end of the night i was drinking beer out of a martini glass..ohh and i dont know what happened to my new chinese friend..actually i dont even remember her name.

Umm I'm not really sure what this place was... was this someone's home, a club, ?? Some of our Dutch buddies told us to show up at this address, so we did. We walk up to the doors of a place that looks like a mansion and were greeted by some handsome, older foreign man (not sure if he was the host of the party, if he lived there or if he was like an ambassador or something...) anyway, I took one look inside and at the girls passing by me in flowing gowns and high heels and gucci bags and I look down at my jeans with holes in the knees and I tell the guy maybe this isn't the right spot. He assured me I was dressed fine and that "lot's of attendees are wearing sneakers" - great. So my friend and I wander around this mansion like club and find the restrooms hidden behind a bamboo-like wall. Finally we meet up with our Dutch buddies and sit on the plush carpetting drinking whiskey out of the bottle or out of our cups with straws (yes, we were the epitome of elegance). the rest of the night was kind of a blur... eventually we found a DJ downstairs and he was kicking up some decent music and he was hot. I think he was ready to file a sexual harrasment suit on my friend though :-) good times, i guess, i still am not sure where i was though...
