Editor's Description

Tucked away in a lane, A Future Perfect is one of the growing number of venues in Shanghai that tries to make you forget where you are. A garden/patio out back is quiet, tree-lined and star-studded. Food is hit or miss.

Great Location, good food! The service personnel is dedicated but still need some training as were in a group of eight people and the last one got served when the first one was already finished.

"A Future Perfect"??? Not so "Perfect". Why? (1) Seating is too close, no privacy, even though i book in advanced.(2) Good variety of daily specials but only a limited available.(3) "Fresh fruit juice" doesnt necessarily mean fresh from the fruit but more so fresh from the BOTTLE.(4)Quality of food was "mamahuhu" and serving portions small but still highly priced. This is just my personal review.

seems like we have us some unfortunate souls here :-P Well, I never had any issues with this place. I love that it is off the main road. That garden rules! Though maybe not on a windy day. I don't think you can compare it with restaurants that have much bigger seating spaces. Like Arch, I think the idea here is that you are in close proximity to the other people. And if you notice others more than the company you are with... well; you don't keep good company then. Food is excellent. Always is. Lunch specials are not too bad either, maybe at times a little too special. But again = we are not talking about a fast food joint, or a drop in & stuff your face in half hour place either. Prices vary, overal it is cheaper than restaurants on the Bund. Can't wait for them to start selling that bread they make there... or those desserts!!

little pricey but enjoyable... if you have enjoy card, it's becoming a good deal with the voucher

i use to go quite often to AFP....dont think i'll keep on going....last sunday for late brunch,it was not really a good experience. And it was the 2d time it was not that "perfect" they dont have a clue about whats a side order ...we got them 20mn before our main course...so in total we waited for 45mn....no notion of eggs poched....they were hard eggs...its such a nicegarden...pitty...maybe this place is managed by a good buisness men,who do pretty well in marketing, but it need a better customer service...and a better chef...

A Shanghai classic. Consistently delicious and a reliably good time. (A great place to order via Sherpa's. There's nothing like aFp's caviar crepes to cheer up the stomach and soul!)

Seating is really too crowded to feel relaxed, the space between tables cannot even fit for a slim person to walk comfortably. It was the first time I went there last Sunday for brunch, the bread was served 15min after I finished my soup and main course....

What has happened to this place? Change of management? Change of chef? Or both? I went for the second time last Friday (first time in April) and what a disappointment it was! I ordered quesadeilla and it was way too salty. Service was poor. The nice and attentive middle-aged male manager was gone and replaced by a crude young man. Don't think I will ever go back.

love the lobster fettucine... the price and portion of the food is quite reasonable, love the ambience, the service is not too bad but not too good too... sure will come back again soon:)

After having made reservations for lunch at AFP today. Strike One: I arrived to find that my reserved 'table for two' was pushed against another table, meaning that basically my friend and I were splitting a table for four with two complete strangers. The table was too small and basically I was cramped against the person sitting directly to my right. Strike Two: In light of the cramped seating situation my friend and I opted to move outside, however none of the heating lanterns outside were working properly, so it was too cold, and we ended up waiting for twenty minutes in the cold to ask a waiter (there were mysteriously none available, though we were sitting with menus at the table) if we could move back inside. ---I must interject that the food was decent. I had a nondescript thai curry chicken which had a lot of tomato and a coffee. My friend had the cheese plate a juice and a coffee--- followed by strike 3: The bill---> 249 kuai <--- 'International price' for undistinguished service and undistinguished food My {REVIEWS}.02- Yet another yuppie/international restaurant- stay away

After hearing so many positive reviews, I was determined to spend my valentine's at AFP. Part of the reason was because our experience at Arch (same owner) last year was enjoyable and that they still have their regular menu instead of those commercial "Valentine's Special Set." Or at least I thought... I was given a seat right beside the entrance which was so close to other tables that I could easily smell the light perfume of the lady sitting beside me. Then the champagne came to save my disappointment... Until the valentine's menu appeared... 760 RMB... I called twice to confirm my reservations and the availability of the regular menu with them saying that I would be notified there was going to be valentine's set only. We went to Settebello, which was right accross the street two days later to find out that their valentine's dinner was a 199rmb set which was cheaper than ordering each course seperately, with the option of regular menu. Hey, the food was better too. Maybe not the sleek design of AFP's menu. No way I'm coming back to this place.
