This place was Shanghai's landmark for entertainment back in the '30s & '40s. As an Art Deco style historical dancehall/nightclub, it went through a few renovations and reopened to the public in April 2017. The renewed Paramount is a modern replica of the original one, with glammy, expensive interiors plus high standards for visitors: formal or at least casual smart dress code, no 'wild shenanigans' behavior, and no beer served. It's got two stages where pop/jazz live bands perform every night; a dance floor, where old-school social dancing takes place (they also provide personal instructors); a few karaoke rooms and private rooms on each floor (these rooms usually come with a private bar as well). Average per head ranges from 200rmb - 300rmb on the first floor at night, 580rmb for afternoon tea, to a couple of thousand plus in the private rooms.
