Conveniently located near many bars and hotels in Jing'an, City Diner has emerged as one of the city's top late-night dining spot. The extensive menu ranges from all day breakfast to burgers and sandwiches, served in 'American-sized portions' and covered in green garnish. A predictably intoxicated, crowd dominates the night and early mornings, while day operations afford a quiet place to get away for a bite to eat or a cup of joe.

No No and another NO. I don't care if Eduardo is still involved there or not, the lunch was lousy and i will NOT (yes, mark my words) return there unless they have another GRAND OPENING. Thanks also to Enjoy, who's 10Kuai Burger voucher i used for this experiment. I was a big (sic) fan of this place. And CD was always well crowded for lunch. Today..even at 12:30 easy to get a window seat. or 6. The burger arrived rather fast, ad looked promising- like burgers do. No condiments were served with it (they used to give you these small wooden boxes with all kind of sauces, mustard and such). But even mustard did not save the day. Taste of the meat was bland. Tastewise it stood no chance next to the toasted bun and onion. I remember CD for great value for money...Today it was WELL worth 10 Kuai . Even though the pale scarce and soggy (my guess is reheated) french fries seemed to be in need of sunshine more than me. One word will suffice to discribe the shotglass full of coleslaw.."sad". Whoever runs this place: get a GRIP. There are tons of lunch options around and i will be found there next time, not CD. The best of this lunch was the free wifi.'nuff said.

I had heard many different opinions about the City Diner, so I had quite some curiosity about how my visit would turn out. Anyway, I was amused by the burguer named KING KONG and decided to give it a go. All I can say is that I got my money's worth, really. The burguer was BIG and the meat juicy (middle term like I like it), with some bacon and thrown in mushrooms there too. It was really really good and washing it down with some cold beer even better. I also had the honey sauce for my fries, which was also excellent. To finish I had a slice (may I add big one) of lemon merengue pie, and boy it was good. The "american portions" slogan definitely do it justice. About the place its allright on the inside, but I still think its a cool place to hang out with friends. The music is not loud so can actually talk and they played some cool tunes (Im an 80s rock guy, so living on a prayer made my day). Service wise, its fine, I had nothing unpleasent to recall to. That's about it.
