Bubba's is a down-home Texas bar and BBQ. The walls are covered in Americana and the worn stools are covered in the middle-aged expat crowd who lives in the area. Ken Walker, the "Bubba in Bubba's'", takes his 'que serious, and when he's not perched on the bar stools right along with the crowd, he's doing something BBQ-related with his custom smoker, stock of applewood, and probably some type of ribs. The house BBQ sauces are standouts, as are the ribs and the pulled pork.

Being a Southerner from NC, I can get nostalgic for food from back home. I went to Bubba's seeking out North Carolinian Pulled Pork BBQ. The decor is Texas kitsch complete with fake saloon doors, strategically placed saddles, and the requisite set of Longhorns in each room of the two story restaurant. Service was generally satisfactory, quite a bit better than most places I've been in China in fact.
The food was relatively authentic, even to the point of offering pulled pork sandwiches in the North Carolinian style (with coleslaw in a hamburger bun, coleslaw inside the sandwich of course). The Hushpuppies that came with the order were also quite good, but, for some reason I can't begin to understand, they served the hushpuppies with honey butter.
All in all, this is a good place for authentic bbq and though pretty far from the metro, is ideal if you have a chinese friend or coworker who persists in believing that Americans eat only Burgers and Pizzas for every meal.
