An Indian restaurant serving not only well-known masala dishes, but also other favorites such as Tandoori Chicken, a must-try for lovers of Indian cuisine and a good place to dine with a group of friends.

How is this place not reviewed yet? It is constantly packed. Anyway, this is probably the best Indian food I have had in Shanghai. Vedas is overpriced, the portions are small, and I once got the most disgusting palak paneer there (how hard is it to mess that up?). Indian Kitchen is mediocre-- food, decor, service, etc. Ganesha is good for a cheap lunch, but that's about it. Punjabi is straight-up nasty. With its tasty Northern Indian dishes, reasonable prices, and chill ambiance, Masala Art is the clear winner.
The dining room has a nice feel-- open and spacious enough that you aren't trapped listening to your neighbors, but dim and intimate enough that you wouldn't feel out of place on a date. The food was great-- much more complex and layered flavors than you usually get at Indian places around town. The portions were unexpectedly big-- the serving of naan was especially generous. The only cog was when the waiter brought out one of our dishes and told us that since they were out of kofta, he made our curry with paneer. We were fine with the substitution, but they should have asked us first.

Went here on few occasions - always consistent on the food - delicious n authentic. Management though varies from time to time. Would suggest better planning for larger crowd from both parties.

I love the food in Masala Art although I find the choice to be a little limited - if you only ever eat Chicken Tikka Masala then you'll be fine, if you like to experiment then you'll come up short here. Staff are always friendly and professional and
