I order this restaurant by way of Sherpa's quite often, but I've also sat down there for a couple meals.

I like the atomosphere. Indians are good at creating a relaxing atmosphere. The value is not the greatest, but it's about average for a restaurant that serves anything other than Chinese food. The food itself tends to be REALLLLY greasy, which is why it only gets 3 stars. It's tasty, but damn, you're left with runny bowels about 4 hours after you eat here... so, if you're constipated, totally go here to fix that.

The drink selection is average. The wine selection is a bit weird for Indian food, so I go for Kingfisher (the beer of India).

Not such a great date spot (due to greasy food).

I love Indian food and can be quite picky about it. Well, I t's the real deal and the decor sets a nice ambiance. The butter chicken dish was not like any other butter chicken I've had. It was amazing though. It's Punjabi style-that may be why. We also had the chicken biryani, yellow lentils and chicken tandoor. Everything was delicious! Even when we were full, we kept eating because it tasted sooooo good. I highly recommend this place.

For my taste this is a great indian restaurant. I had a lamb curry which was delicious. Also a very nice naan bread. The prices are pretty high but what you get is a big dish which is really worth it in my eyes. I was almost bursting after a small soup as a starter, my curry and the naan. together with a beer I was looking at about 160 RMB. You will surely find cheaper eats but in terms of "value and size for money" this is pretty good in my opinion.
The service is very good, the boss gives also good recommendations and the decoration of the restaurant is quite typical as well. warm colors in a dark environment...
Looking forward to my next visit :-)

Markets itself as a fine Indian restaurant, falls below par on many levels. Service is slow and annoying. Food is cold and portions are small. Does nothing to promote fine Indian cuisine. Honestly, not worth the effort besides a set lunch if you happen to be in the area.
    Pretty ordinary place....

I went there on a Tuesday night with about 12 friends. It was a birthday dinner. The place was pretty packed for a Tuesday night.
Pros: the place has nice decor and good ambience . the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was not priced exorbidently. The standard price of Indian food around here.
    Cons:
I wouldn't say the quality of food was bad. But being a person who grew up eating the food all my life. I would say it wasn't the best.
The cheese naan was just too thick. And butter chicken. Was watery.
But the tikka kebab was pretty decent.
On the whole its not a bad place at all. But there are better choices for similar prices in shanghai.
I suggest try kebab on the grill ( cool dock's) .
