I went here for a big night with my girlfriend, and we were impressed throughout the meal. Very well presented, excellent food and good value for the money, though a bit steep. The service was excellent as well, but maybe they shouldn't try quite as hard... A few blemishes to complain about: The speed of service was too quick, we'd like to have time to enjoy our 2000 rmb meal please. Secondly, the music was so quiet that we felt quite deserted in the large villa with few other guests. And lastly, but for us the worst part, the extremely badly managed service charge. As we paid our bill (with visa) we were quietly told by the waiter that the service charge was not included. Quite confused, being used to not paying that unless specified on the menu, we asked him what he meant, if we should write it on the visa bill. The insistent answer was that only cash was accepted. So I pulled up another 200 from my wallet and gave him, which I must admit gave a bitter aftertaste to the memory of the night. If your mood and wallet is more resistant to unspecified service charges though, I whole-heartedly recommend la Villa Rouge.
