I'm not usually prone to writing a review of such a degree of negativity-but in this case, I think the review that will follow is not in anyway unmerited and 100% valid. To put this into perspective, this particular restaurant holds sentimental value and is firmly entrenched in my own personal Shanghai timeline-an iconic place in my experience where we've held many a birthday night or leaving night and we have some extremely fond memories of great food, service and many nights to remember (or not depending on the amount of saki consumed :P). Nevertheless, I will never, ever return to this place again for the totally hopeless customer service, which for a restaurant highly dependent on expat customers in order to survive in a prime location no less, quite fankly beggars belief! When there is a plethora of all you can eat teppanyaki restaurant for no more than 200rmb across this city, this restaurant is going to have raise the bar significantly before people are just put off from returning again.
Now as organised and forward planning as I am, knowing full well the holiday season is drawing to a close, it is only common sense to consider booking ahead to secure a 7pm table on a Friday night. in my case, though sadly not for the restaurant, common sense prevailed-on the Tuesday, where I booked a table for 10 of my friends to give a send off to a visiting friend from Scotland. This was duly noted (supposedly) and my telephone number was taken, and everything as I had organised and planned was read out to me! Great-no problem! A restaurant I have been to dozens of times over the last 3.5 years has secured my booking and I'll get my sumptuous Japanese feast and give my friend a fine, saki-filled send off! Given previous experiences I've had in the past, I called again the Thursday to reconfirm and also amend the numbers for the booking. Perhaps on the borderline of neurosis asking them to reconfirm everything again, but it at least I was safe in the knowledge the booking was made! I think if you have read this far, it isn't exactly going to take a PHd in Magnetohydrodynamics to figure out the punchline to this long short story: yes, when we turned up, our booking had mysteriously vanished. Now, as much as I may make a claim that Girls Like Mystery with my band, anyone with half a brain would naturally be perplexed as to what on earth had gone wrong. I went over the conversations I had on the phone, even called the number stored on my phone to confirm in front of them this was indeed the correct restaurant (phone rang!) to avert being patronised by the duty manager who suggested I had perhaps made a mistake and booked a different place?? So, despite a bunch of empty tables and 10 hungry expats on the way, they refused to accommodate us, verify our bookings (despite also showing them evidence that the calls had been made) and were only prepared to offer us a tiny table in the corner from 9pm onwards. This miserable little compromise was further exacerbated by their refusal to compensate us with a half price discount (not an unreasonable request given the situation), or even apologise for the inconvenience their ineptitude had created. They 'helpfully' suggest we try somewhere else-I might just do that next time!
The duty manager displayed an attitude of both total indifference and arrogance and an outright refusal to take accountability for the situation his restaurant had created. I will never, ever step foot in that place again and I would advise anyone seeking their all you can eat feast to take stock of the far superior restaurants that this city has to offer.

Having been over 10 years in Shanghai this is no doubt THE worst dinner I have ever had. Fish, vege, meat, beer and sake is just awful - fish is not fresh at all - meat are all local market and beers are not cold at all. Think of it, what can you get for 160 RMB - scary low priced so of course they can't serve you anything that's good and fresh.
I have tried many restaurants and also all-you-can eat Teppanyaki deals but this place is just terrible. They even put all guests together at same tables, although other cooking tables are free - the boss just says, sorry they are booked, which is a lie, because nobody else came to the place the rest of the evening. 30 min. before they closed all staffed already started to clean the place and put on their jackets and even started to look at us saying "finish up and leave".
There are better Teppanyaki restaurants in town than this one so for me its an NCB = Never Come Back!
