Named after that little street those wacky Beatles trotted across, Abbey Road has become one of the most popular summer venues in Shanghai. With patio seating, cheap beer on tap and lots of (at times unfortunate) classic rock, this bar/restaurant is the ultimate expat venue. Abbey Road's menu includes mostly Swiss fare interspersed with some American. [Update] Abbey Road on Yueyang Road has now closed and around the corner to Taojiang Road

    SO...

Environment: Nice little cozy place. A bit crowded, but that's what gets the atmosphere. It does get a bit noisy though if there are too many people sitting indoors. The outdoor patio is an excellent space with plenty of seating! Perfect on a cool summers night. Good music if you like those classic rocks!

Food: I only ordered the burger. BUT, that burger was good enough just to get me to write a review. Mhmm, I would marry that burger. It was love at first bite. Juicy, flavorful, and OMG. I want to go back and get it again. Other friends ordered Suisse or Swedish dishes. Didn't look as appetizing at the burger that came to you almost like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Service: Average. You raise your hand and there's bound to be someone to come to you. They're standing at all corners of the rooms and waiting at the entrances. So, not too shabby.

Went there with friends on a late afternoon friday. I had the grilled chicken (65 RMB) and Long Island Iced Tea, Mojito and Strawberry Daiquiri (Happy Hour 25 RMB each).

The interior is dark and their wooden furnitures is not so comfortable, so I'll recommend this place for pre-drinks. Food is western style and western price, but good when you're tried of the chinese cuisine! Drink are good and price (50 RMB for cocktails) is very acceptable!

English speaking waiters and good service. Remember to make a reservation in advance if you are a group that wants to be sure to sit and eat/drink together. After 6PM this place gets packed (mostly foreigners).

I went there for brunch this past Sunday and we had to wait for one and half hours for our dishes. Later when my friend asked for a glass of lemonade, and they came back with a slice of lemon. I then told the waiter that we actually are asking for a drink, then the waiter said "Jesus Christ" to me without even aplogizing. The omelet was brown and overcooked. I feel bad for the owner to have such a great spot for the restaurant but having the worst crew working for him. The management level really need to give out some manner classes for the waiters.

I\'d only been to Abbey Road for drinks before, but after a lot of arguing one night about where to eat and with the threat of a trip to Ajisen Ramen looming over my head, Abbey Road was chosen.

For a start, i\'ve always like the staff there. They\'re waaaaay above average for this town in terms of service and English (except still being called \"laydeee\" on a few occasions...come on Abbey Road i\'m buying cocktails not a pair of fake Uggs, no joking with you).

The drinks are reasonably priced and there\'s a good selection of cocktails in a nice environment.....but the food menu? Confused.com

Abbey Road....The Beetles..... they conjure up images of my home isle, as British as fish and chips, cottage pie, chicken tikka masala....so imagine my surprise when i read the menu and am left feeling like i\'m in Bavaria.

There\'s lots of German style dishes, and even the salad which i had came on top of pickled cabbage, another type of pickled cabbage, beetroot (out of a tin, school dinner style) et al. The price of my chicken salad was very good and the plate huge and topped high, but i\'m not a fan of pickled anything and it wasn\'t mentioned on the menu so I ended up picking around it!

My mates had a cajun chicken sarnie which was big, full to the brim and i\'m told tasty (but no free chips), a burger which was delicious and a steak which was cooked well and had some sides included. The general consensus was that the food was \'alright\'.

All in all the food was ok, i\'m not sure we\'d go back specifically for dinner, i was just left bamboozled by the weird menu....it seems to have an nationality crisis. Pick a country and stick to it is a good general rule of thumb!

But i will still go there for the great drinks, great service and setting. It\'s a great little bar, but next time maybe i will go to Ajisen Ramen before hand!

Four stranded souls on a Sunday night in the middle of a bank holiday weekend (which was warm so I must be abroad) one of whom has an idea of the delights of Shanghai and so chooses Abbey Road.
The venue is sort of themed around the Beatles but I didn’t really get it. We had a table in the garden which was nice and the atmosphere of the restaurant was good. Service was friendly enough but took a few reminders to get all our food.
The menu is varied, more European than American but they did have good looking burgers. The meat dishes we ordered (pork and beef) were good with nice accompaniments but the pasta was not great. The Carbonara lacked richness (possibly due to the perennial cheese problem in China) which didn’t bother my companions as much as it did me, nor did they mind “looking for the ham” but they were miffed that they couldn’t get the pasta shapes they wanted. Shame as the portions were generous and to repeat the meat dishes were good.
The real let down however was the desert which promised homemade apple pie but failed to deliver. May be I just had high hopes but the pastry was too hard to get through with a spoon. We mentioned our disappointment and were given a free shot each as consolation which was nice but I was soo looking forward to apple pie….
Ratings are personal obviously. I have marked as average for all categories (yes a cop out but it was a good bad mix) apart from business but I suppose that depends on your business and I have not been on a date for a hundred years so take that with a pinch too….

Went to Abbey Road this evening for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks to start the night off. Sat outside, and the wait staff were very efficient and friendly. Had some drinks and a cheesy pork offering. Did the job and the damage wasn\'t bad at all, compared to some other places close by! All-in-all i\'d say this is a good place to go with friends / a date (provided he/she likes western style food) and I will be going back. Good stuff!

After having been in Shanghai for nearly 3 months (the longest I have been out of the country), I was starting to miss America, and McDonalds just wasn't cutting it. Abbey Road fell into my lap when some American friends decided to check it out. I had a big steak, french fries (both were amazing) and a glass of wine and was highly impressed. The wait staff were very friendly (and well-versed in English), and the atmosphere was homey and comfortable. I have been there a few times with my computer to do homework because of the free wi-fi and great food. Great place to bring a big group of friends. My only complaint is that in the outside seating, the fans were turned up a touch too high, and if you're a girl... it gets a little sticky with the hair. Without the fans, it would have been too hot, though. Otherwise, love it. Highly recommended.
