Enoteca has set itself as one of the most affordable joints to be downing the drink of gods. Most of the wines are from Argentina and Chile but not limited to these 2 wine regions. It has an equipped kitchen serving up set lunches and simple brunch affairs on Sundays.
While Enoterra (Anfu Lu) serves a great, filling Sunday brunch, I have to pile on with the other reviewers in saying that it completely sucks that the place caters so much to smokers, leaving it to stink like hell. Even when you sit in the “non-smoking” section, you have no choice but to breathe sidestream smoke wafting in from the other parts of the restaurant—which is a bummer. I understand the profit motive in being a smoking venue in Shanghai, however, a joint like Enoterra, which seems to do well enough, might go out of its way to offer a smoke-free weekend brunch environment.
I used to enjoy going to Enoterra on Anfu Lu, the staff were always friendly, and one had a great selection of wine and consistent food at reasonable prices.
Given the above, I suggested to a group of five colleagues from the service industry to try the place for brunch, well what an embarrassment, the French manager (sic) and I use that term loosely, was very unaccommodating to our request to serve a beverage, in fact he was totally obnoxious, and must of just been wafted from a Parisian street café, in his less than chic state. We were so infuriated that we got up and left, and went elsewhere, and spent some 2,500RMB in another stand-alone restaurant.
It would seem that Burger King failed to translate their famous tag line of "Have it your way" into French, or perhaps Enoterra were simply not bothered with earning revenue on a quiet Sunday during CNY.
The point to write the article is to bring home to management of the restaurant that they are in the service and people business, and should think about how they respond to paying customers requests in a more positive manner, rather than the obnoxious manner metered out.

This plush, intimate wine bar does a French-style brunch on the weekends. 130rmb buys a set of salmon tartare, quiche, Caesar chicken salad, cheese, cured meats, soft boiled egg, bread, croissant, yam, yogurt, and very appropriately, grape juice. They also offer Fine de Claire oysters at 30rmb a piece or 300rmb for a dozen. 11am-4pm. For reservations, call 5404 0050.
Every Monday through Friday at all Enoterra branches from 4-8pm, buy 1 glass of wine and get the second for free. Wines by the glass change every month and there are always 10 to choose from roses, reds, whites and sweets.
