Muse Group's second home located in the Plaza 66 mall, M2 is a testament to the luxurious immoderation of Shanghai's nightlife market. Prepare to spend big in this see-and-be-seen temple of image while rubbing elbows with the city's nouveau riche and the occasional Hong Kong celebrity. The club hosts some of the better local and int'l DJ talent, but whether the crowd recognizes this or even cares is up for debate.

M2 is not designed for a huge dancing party crowd (which is exactly what these dj's are presenting). The Majority of this club's floor space is for seating groups of people. What could be utilized dance floor space is instead a bunch of private tables.... along with the their service staff trying to squeeze onto the already packed dance floor trying to serve drinks. suggestions? if you have to use M2.... limited entry? remove seating around the dance floor. easier accessibility on/off dance floor C'mon organizers... think critically about your choice of venues. Surely your able to deliver a better venue than this.... after touring the Asian club circuit I know Shanghai's venue's list leaves's much' to be desired/discovered. Ino.

Hummm, i have to be agree with mostly of the comments below. M2 is a bit too small for big DJ's shows (like Tiësto or Carl Cox). But, for my part, it's a real nice place when it's not too crowded. I was there yesterday (22nd march 2008), and was really cool. Nice music, nice people inside (not like Attica/Bar rouge, at least, from my point of view...). Had a real good feeling/time there. And do you know many night club where you can have Open Bar for 100rmb? I mean, a REAL open bar, not like bonbon with the fake alcool... The drinks were really good, and the bartender don't say "no", when u ask for 2 drink at the same time (if you want to order for your girlfriend for exemple...) The only 2 bad points are : if you want to leave your jacket/bag, you need to be patient :-) This thing is the worst thing in M2 i think. The other one, is, only 1 bartender speak english, and then only 1 bartender can serve drinks to all foreigners... And that's not enaugh (you have to wait between 5~10 mn for 1 drink) . But since it's an open bar (on the other way, if you don't take open bar, drinks are expensive), it doesn't matter so much. To conclude, i think it's a nice place to go, when there isn't special events/DJ's :-) Much better than BonBon !!

R u kiddin'! M2 for Tiesto! Damn, I've been at that place only for 2 times, @ Carl Cox & Dave Seaman! That's the most horrible place in Shanghai, U can not dance at all, cuz evrywhere are stupid tables and couches, with Chinese playing their games and drinkin Chivas, it's a kinda sterotype i think, but anyway there's only a small peace of "dancefloor" where u can dance, right in front of the DJ, but is so small and crowded that u better forget about this! Working stuff is not that polite, drinks r expensive, and even if u decided to sit or stand near the bar u r again simple can't do that too! EVERYTHING there is so unorganized! No, there r only two places where i'm not goin' even if the Tiesto is there - M2 & BonBon! G+ i think is the perfect place for such events!

Even though, I appreciate Tiesto in Shanghai. True that M2 for good dj is more glitz than any good. At Carl Cox; I had to actually dance on those big couches; because i was risking getting trampled by the crowd, or being forced to push people back . There is no dancefloor; and the only access to the middle is through going around; so basically you are stuck in a cue the whole night. I agree that ABSOLUTE House is the best space for a show. It's based on a old standard, the Show-Box Theater. Or why not Attica?

I simply agree, there is no dance floor and this really sucks. The drinks are really really bad, small dirty glasses. Worst, the bartenders never want to give you your rest money. I was there for Carl Cox and was really dissappointed. What is really really pity that all this good DJ usually go such crap places like Bonbon (where it smell like shit) or some other stupid places. It was also really bad to have Tiesto in Babyface some years ago. In my eyes the only place where you could bring a good DJ and where you could really dance and celebrate is Absolute House near Xietu Lu, but unfortunately also there is is horibbly unorganized. Welcome in China and I will for sure not got to see Tiesto in M2.

Hey come on!!! I have been around the clubbing scene for 10 years now. I have been a promoter for Carl Cox, Tiesto, Joeski, Dimitri from Paris... in North America. Who complains about a line up of 20minutes for the Carl Cox gig. Seriously, 20 minutes line-up is very short. You are not happy cause the staff don't speak english, just learn chinese, your in China. M2 rocks and it's all about the music!

Yup - couches and tables EVERYWHERE! Why host world famous DJ's like Carl Cox and Ken Ishii, when the people that appreciate that music can't even dance to it? This club is all image. Music means nothing here.

Kinda of a strange venue. Potentially a great place for getting together with friends, but if you want to meet people or dance, this is a really awkward place to do it. It resembles a giant living room, with couches and tables everywhere. The dance floor is oddly shaped and is very very very small. I'd call this a glorified bar more than a dance club.

Thank you HKBAOBEI for supporting my opinion. I also asked many times to see a manager in order to complain, and exactly the same, they could not speak english, OR made me think that they could not speak english : LaoBan, they could understand very well!! Noone seems to have responsibilities in that club, reason why it is a mess! If you want to loose your time, go there!

Cannot agree more to uder Oasis, I was being pushed by all people waiting to drop and take back their stuff, no queue to seperate both, and totally unorganized there. The worst is, my friend lost her coat; and I tried to ask the staff at front door to get a name card, for booking next time in English, he was so rude to us "Speak Chinese"! I mean...fine, M2 owner, can you post a WARNING at the door that "No Chinese speaking, no service"! Or they are not welcome all non-Chinese speaking Asian, which is DISCRIMINATION!!!!

The worst organization I have ever seen in a club: for Carl Cox's, who is one of the famous DJ in the world, we had to wait half an hour to drop our jackets, and more than 1 hour (!!) to fetch them. What a mess in a club that pretend to be one of the top ten in Shanghai??
