Editor's Description

Last updated: July 15th, 2008

Although originally Sugar was just one of three venue options in the Xintiandi hotspot "The Collection," the desert parlour/cocktail lounge has come to the fore as the prime destination for hipper, trendier expats looking for a night out in Shanghai's "Heaven on Earth" district. With interiors that look like they would have been approved by Marie Antoinette (regal white leather galore, marble everything), Sugar is probably one of the more singular and unique venues in Shanghai, and a great option to get away from the crowds in Xintiandi for some ritzy drinks and treats. If you're looking for something a little more raucous, head on over for their Wednesday night ladies nights ("Girls'Club") and/or their Friday parties, subtly dubbed "THE" Friday Party.

SmartShanghai recommends the Espresso Martini (70rmb).
