Fantastic brunch experience and totally worth the money, only second to Norma's in NYC in my opinion. Make sure you are hungry before you order the mega brunch.

I had a fantastic experience with the service here, I'm surprised to see anything negative, which is why I'm writing. It probably helped that I called ahead and speak french, but it was the best service I've had in Shanghai so far, save Jean Georges. We came for brunch which was ample and delicious, although my croissant was decidedly lacking in the buttery flakiness one hopes for. Prices were very reasonable and I felt the bistro style decor was very genuine. Would certainly recommend, especially for a friendly gathering.

I often go there. I used to go to the one who was next to the XiangYang Market (no market anymore...) My favorite dish is the "saucisses/purée" which is very french! And I always take their "chocoholic" with flowing chocolate! Very tasty! The manager told me it was made from french chocolate Valrhona which is very famous from chocolate addicts like me!

Everything there is very French! The appetizer, the main course, the wine, the dessert, even the espresso is carrying the original French taste! Yes, it is not cheap, but compare to other French restaurants in shanghai, the price is acceptable. Best is their service, the staff are very polite, and for sure well trained. I forgot one book on the table after the dinner, and the French waiter actually went after me for one block to give it back. I was very touched. And feel lucky too. Highly recommended for dinner and brunch!

Overpriced and BAD food!

yeah... we were surprised - unpleasingly - seeing the pictures and the prices... the photography in the menu doesn't want to make you order anything, and with that pricing, we didn't take that chance either. We walked out after checking that menu, and went to Whisk instead. And spend less on better looking - and am sure better tasting - food.

Was disappointed to see they gave up the formula that worked so well for their other outlets. The new Cafe Montmatre tries to be more classy, up-class, fine-dining ish. Prices have gone up as well. Doesn't work for me.

Altogether found this place decidedly average... Don't be fooled by the word "smoothie" on the menu as my friends 'lime smoothie' was actually a glass of weak lime juice with honey. Our omlettes were both fine, but nothing spectacular and though the service was polite it did take a while to get any even though there were only about 6 people in the cafe. Don't get your hopes up with this place.

The food is very french and quite ok but a little bit overpriced... but at least you can have a croque monsieur at 40rmb...
