Full disclosure: I love this place, and have for a long time. I go there at least once a week, partly because I live very close and partly because it is just perfectly my speed. There is a lot to love about this place, and I hope my review does it some justice without seeming over the top. The food, which used to be this place's Achilles heel, has improved tremendously since the new chef took over. Their brunch is one of the few unknown steals left in Shanghai, where 250 RMB lets you sit on their awesome patio for hours at a time, indulging in a full spectrum of decadence. Friends have been known to take naps during the brunch, only to be re-engergized when they wake up to take on the endless buffet of tapas. My second favorite thing about this place: the wine selection. 99 RMB per bottle and up makes it legit for all budgets, and the staff won't give you a dirty look if you want to make it a cheap night. And the real reason to go to Bonito? The service. The staff, the owners, and the general sense of hospitality that both bestow on their guests is bar none in this town. The music in this place could use some variety, but maybe that's because I go so often that it seems repetitive.

Check this place out, well worth the trip for a date or casual afternoon with friends.

Indeed, amazing afternoon at BONITO's brunch....I was there with some friends from the States, and after enjoying 4 long hours of brunch at its cozy patio, the spanish sangria started to make effect between people: a bunch of guys started to play flamenco stuff, a beatiful girl (spanish i guess), jumped on stage and started to dance together with other costumers.
Finally, everything became a great party. Spontaneous, simple, nice people, excellent athmosphere. Stayed there till 10 pm...Btw, the food was delicious. My favourite: Bull's Tail and Steak Tartare.
