Editor's Description
Eduardo Vargas' highly successful comfortable eatery has become a brunch favorite among expats. Take off your shoes and eat sitting on the floor in a bundle of plush pillows, or head upstairs for normal tables. The chef's Peruvian origins are present in some of the main courses but Azul also offers American cuisine, such as blueberry pancakes and omletes.

i can only really speak for azul's lunch deal, but for me it's the best in shanghai! the food is fabulous, and it's always a struggle to choose what to order because you don't want to miss out on some of the other dishes. and the value for money is incredible- 3 courses (including one my favourite desserts ever, the chocolate brulee!), plus a glass of wine and a coffee. really can't recommend it highly enough!

Perfect place to escape Chinese food and have delicious tapas (tapenade, hummus, spicy salads) with tasty wine. Cosy atmosphere & efficient service. A little expensive but worth it, especially for a date!

Had dinner there last Saturday night and I have 2 say -it was pretty good. Ordered 5 tapas and they were all very tasty - esp the garlic prawns.
Sangria was too sweet though and at 200rmb ( AUD), it was a little steep. Nice decor though -would return

Had a sunday brunch their, choose their combo B which is sausage with mushroom scrambled egg and some kind of potato pancake things. WIth some tost and scones. THE BLANDEST FOOD THAT I HAVE HAD IN SHANGHAI SO FAR!!!! Never going back there for breakfast again.

Um, I loved the atmosphere and the taste of the food was good, including the smoothie drink. But the service was terrible and after eating there was a large cockroach crawling on one of our chairs. It took 80 minutes from the time we were seated until the first course of food was served. I might give this place another shot - I believe they were short staffed this day. 1 waitress for the whole 2nd floor area including a party.

Brunch at Azul, what more can you ask for? I love all of Edward Vargas's creations, and since the close of 239 (very sad day) I have turned to Azul Viva for my fix. Brunch choices today included melt in your mouth smoked salmon, ricotta cake (cheese cake suited for breakfast), and beautiful pancakes. Great start to the weekend. Dinner is fantastic too. But I think I will save that for next week...

sigh gotta retract my previous post on this. couple of friends and I went there recently upon my recommendation. we were sorely disappointed (and i was lambasted for my recommendation). 1) peach sangria tasted like peach punch (upon our complaint, more white wine was added and it ended up tasting like white wine with peach flavour). 2) the calamari batter was poorly made, and kept flaking off. 3) we had a close encounter with 2 cockroaches on the cushiony walls.

i would not advise coming here for dinner. i was here on a saturday night and had a terrible experience. the service, which entailed forgetting one of our main orders and a matter-of-fact apology for it aferward, was atrocious. their special for the evening, seafood paella, tasted like cardboard, which is only a slight exaggeration since the rice and snow peas were undercooked, and the clams contained sand; i was given salt and pepper after complaining about this.

Azul Baby Azul...I can't not write a review about Azul...
This would have to be my favourite eatery in Shanghai. Brunch on a Sunday GOLD! I always go a started of smoked salmon backed up with the omlette accompanied with a Sangria (the best in SH.
Business Lunch hands down the best, for value and taste..
Dinner... The lima bean salad is an absolute must....
I have been here several times in the year I have lived here and everytime I walk out saying "Azul rocks my world". Keep up the good work!
