The general agreement is that Simply Thai is just okay. Slightly pricey, the food tastes average, looks average, and is sized average. Service is slow and not particularly helpful. Admittedly, the good experiences at Simply Thai outnumber the bad, so it is worth a shot-- the result ultimately depends on the kind of day they're having.

Well never been this simply before, so wanna give a try.
So disappointed. The food are served cold; when the plate come, the sauce is missing. The waiters are talking to each other, not paying any attention to the clients.
They really need to improve.

Went to Simply Thai on Dongping Lu for a dinner with a group of friends and we weren't expecting it to be such a disaster.
First off all, their restrooms were not available and all guests had to walk to Pauls about 100 meters away every time we needed to use the bathrooms. I find it unacceptable for a venue that serves beer. And I understand that this can happen that for some reason their toilets are out of service but they could at least warn us before we ordered our food. Not a nice thing if it takes you ten minutes to walk to Pauls and back.
Than another thing was we ordered our food and drinks at the same time for all of us. The first drinks arrived after about 20 mins since we ordered. We had 2 people missing drinks and we tried to ask whoever was around to check where are the missing cocktails but no response. Food arrived but still no drinks for two of us.
We kept asking and asking for the drink but all of the staff were going to the back to check where is it but never got any update or a drinks itself.
There was also mix up with who ordered what and again one of my friends had to wait for her food and so for the drink. Some of us finished our meal but she still didn't have hers. The manager offered us free 3 bottles of Tsingtao (for a group of 8 people) to make up for it and no further explanation on what's happened.
I must admit however that food was good but definitely not worth the hassle to get it.

Polite staff and good Thai food, I like come here to avoid too much tourist in XTD. Also the food more steady compared to XTD shop!

If you ever consider eating Thai food... do anything but eat here, it really is an insult to Thai food.
I have never wrote a complaint on a forum before until now. There are so many better alternatives in shanghai than this.... the place, food, staff and management are a joke and I have never been in such a bad restaurant in all my life.
The whole experience is a disaster zone!!!!!

Even if the prices are a little high for Thai Food, the food is just incredibly tasty.
The location is nice. Service is ok.
The wines dont really match with the food, but after all, you dont really to drink wine when u eat thai food !

What a shame... an insult to the thai culture! i've been there for their 10 years anniversary and their 10 rmb dishes made me sick for 3 days. no kidding! i got other friends who went there for taking advantage of this offer and it seems that the result was the same: violent stomach pain for few days.
Hopefully they dont cook that shit the rest of the year...
