    Dinner on a weekday night: slow service. Dinner was nearly 4 hours! By the time the entree arrived, everyone just wanted to leave. Worse, food was mediocre and expensive. Mercato, MMB and Pop were fully booked and Sir Elly's was available - we called for reservations last minute and should have realized that they were half empty for a reason. Thought it might have been a one-off.

    Easter brunch 2016. Adults had a set menu and a buffet for children. Reserved weeks in advance and emailed back and forth to confirm details for a large party with many children and infants. Arrived to discover our table didn't have enough seats. Service was polite but inept. Had to constantly ask for things like utensils, napkins, drinks. Not once or twice, but 4-5 times. They need to train their staff to be pro-active, basic things like clearing dishes, checking coats and following through on requests. Food took a long time and entrees arrived cold or were incorrect. Our reservation was for 11:00 and our entrees did not arrive until 1:30 p.m., the same time as the Easter activities outside on the lawn began. Some entrees did not arrive at all. 2 entrees arrived first and the remaining diners at our table had to wait an additional 30m for their entrees to arrive. Dirty dishes remained on the table until we requested they be removed. They seemed unprepared for the Easter brunch, which is a bit surprising since it required early reservations. The Easter activities were not well planned or executed. Overstaffed and poorly trained, lots of people around but not doing anything useful. They had 2 playrooms for children to play in and the kids buffet had a good variety of food, fruit and dessert. Cute animal themed kid friendly food, like sliders that looked like bunnies, hedgehog buns, cut-out sandwiches, spaghetti & meatballs. Cotton candy, crepes, etc. The setting is nice and the staff is polite but for these prices, the quality and service was abysmal. There were a few staff that were excellent and proactive, but they were far and few between.

    I was looking forward to my dinner in Sir Elly's as it had been on my list for a very long time. When I arrived nobody bothered to take my winter coat so I had to throw it on one of the chairs in the lounge where we were having a pre-dinner cocktail. When we were asked to move into the restaurant, I had to take my coat with me and had to ask if somebody could place it in the cloakroom. The restaurant looks immaculate as can be expected from a venue like this. Decor is tasteful and the high ceiling impressive. Had an excellent fish carpaccio appetizer but the rack of lamb I selected from the menu was not available. Instead we were recommended the lamb shoulder (minimum two persons) which when it arrived was sliced at the table and accompanied by mixed vegetables. The meat portion was huge whilst the vegetable portion was minute. The sauce dried up on the plate shortly after the dish was served and we had to eat the (dry) meat by itself. My partner and I were disappointed and had expected a lot better from a restaurant of this caliber and in this price-range (Sir Elly's is expensive!!!). We finished our excellent Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc at the bar and settled the bill. When we wanted to leave there was nobody at the hostess desk to farewell us and I had to walk back to the restaurant to get somebody's attention and assistance to retrieve my coat from the cloakroom. All in all an expensive, disappointing experience and a restaurant concept that with it's table service is no longer of this day and age.
