Foodies out there,

Challet Suisse is hardly worth any trying. Judge for yourself, each one of our friends spent 380RMB for not properly cooked potatos and cheese, "hardly possible to see on a plate cold cuts" and a glass of not the best wine. It was a painful experience coz we all had to starve for one full hour before we got some melted cheese on our potatoes, and then cheese was served with a frequency of 40minutes due to the ONLY one manager sevring and just two raclette sets. It is a rip off. Never experienced anyhting like this in Shanghai!

The decor of this place is lovely - very Swiss - and the food is good quality. However, my gripe would be that it's too expensive for what it is. 198 RMB per person for the raclette is quite steep, especially since if one person at the table wants raclette, everyone has to have it. This is one of the craziest things I've heard in a long time! What is their justification? It smacks of money-grubbing. My dining partner and I wanted to try a variety of things, but since we both had to get the raclette that he picked, we could only have that (weren't willing to pay silly prices for a salad or third main course).

If these guys changed their raclette policy, I might come back.

Went we some friends and didn't enjoy the place at all. We all took the raclette - because for some unclear reasons - one table must take the same dish so if one person wants raclette and you are 10 then 10 must take the raclette...(or none).
The raclette which is charged for 198RMB/person comes with only potatoes and some veggie stuff. The charcuterie must be ordered separately and each platter (not very well garnished to say the least) is charged individually at 70 kuai. You need at least one platter for one person.
The service is extremely slow.
One single plate of cheese is served at the time due to the limited number of machines and waiters, that means that basically each guest eat by himself while the others are waiting...not very friendly atmosphere.
Sometimes you also have to wait to get potatoes because there is a shortage (we had to wait more than 30 minutes and when they finally arrived they were still raw in the middle).
That's it for the negative side, otherwise the cheese and charcuterie are ok (when you can get them) and the decor is ok but simple. Clear wood on the walls go give the "chalet" impression, that's it. Probably area of improvement as well.
The overall conclusion remains that the food is overpriced and the service absolutely catastrophic. We will certainly not go back before we hear there has been some changes.

Went with some friends a day or two after they opened. The location is interesting kind of tucked away in Jingan next to a very nice bakery and gourmet supermarket with a very friendly owner.

The restaurant is cozy like a chalet should be but not overly out there with the decorations. Overall a very friendly and cozy atmosphere.
Our table went for the raclette and it was delicious. Came with all the necessary accompanyments: potatoes, charcuterie board (awesome cured venison!), and an assortment of pickled veggies that were all nice.

The combination of molten cheese, potatoes, charcuterie, and veggies is fantastic! The wine list is accessible with some interesting wines. The service was overall good, its a unique service style as you await your hot molten cheese.

Overall a really nice addition to the food scene. Authentic, tasty, wholesome food that won't break the bank. Next time going back for some fondue!
