Last Saturday I and mine husband visited Sailors for lunch. I had sea bass and he had cod. The portions are good, not to big and not to small but I had actually to much fries and I would like to have more fish. The butter is good seasoned, crispy and thin what I really liked because I don't like eating the fish when the butter is heavy and overpowering the fish. The chips were also quite good till they were warm...After they cool down they tasted as flower. They were to starchy I think. But we went out happy and with full stomaches and with one cola and thee we paid 110 rmb in total. I think that is not bad. For sure worth visiting for a fast bite.

I only recently heard about this place, but have long wished for some fish and chip shops in Shanghai (I'm from the UK), so I checked it out today at lunchtime.
I ordered flounder, which is only 30 yuan includeing chips, plus some mushy peas and a can of coke, making a grand total of 40 yuan. I'm used to paying more than London prices here for anything western style, so that made a pleasant change.
The fish was pretty small compared to a typical portion in the UK (which are generally huge), and the chips were more american style, but both were good. The only strange thing was that it came with a few (non-mushy) peas which were completely cold. Fortunately the mushy peas that came separately were hot.
It's worth mentioning that this place has only 8 seats, and I was the only customer there, but I'll definitely be going back while they're still in business. Perhaps it's more of an evening place, since they have a good selection of beer and even some wines.

This place is tiny but nicely set up with seats for 8 people on 3 tables, good decor, and friendly staff. I had the sea bass and it came with some fries and about 18 peas on a plate with a small dish of tartar sauce. The fish tasted fine, fries also, and the sauce was solid. The batter is indeed quite thin and crispy, and everything was cooked appropriately. The price was quite reasonable (57rmb inc a bottle of 15rmb Heineken) although I would say the portion was a bit small.
I went in knowing from previous reviews that it wasn't going to be the classic big piece of fluffy breaded haddock in a basket of fries lined with newspaper. Even with this knowledge I was disappointed; there was nothing bad about the meal, but it certainly didn't wow me. It's probably worth a go if you're in the area and want to try something different but I wouldn't make a special trip for it.

Friendly staff, nicely prepared fish and chips. This newly opened, tiny eatery deserves to do well. Possibly the best value food in Shanghai. Simple menu with dishes of various battered fish on sale for 38RMB plus the Big Set for 68RMB. The batter is light and crispy and the chips are proper fish shop chips.
Once you have finished your fish, take a stroll and see what else Yong Kang Lu has to offer, from Cheers In beer emporium, to the new French bar further down the street.

Surprisingly great fish & chips - crispy, not over-battered and slipping out. Apparently this is Australian style?
The big set is more than any one person could possibly consume, and is incredible value for money. Not as keen on the shrimp/scallops/squid anyway, so I'd rather order the fish individually.
They only have two fryers so sometimes things can take a while. Guys who run it are real nice, hope this works out for them. Incredible to see what's happened to Yongkang Lu since we moved in a year ago.
