Well, we were very excited to see that the Fat Olive was to open near our home in Jinqiao. Finally some good Greek food! Well, at our first visit, we were willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, as it was a soft opening and of course they are working through the hoops of opening a new place and training a new staff. Well, the staff was fine and we knew most of them since most had jumped ship from the nearby Blue Marlin, but the food was simply crud. Very small portions and very very poor flavor. Our main dishes were the size of small appetizers and very tasteless. I grew up in Chicago's Greek Town so my expectations may be a bit skewed but seriously - the food this evening was well below par.

Again, we were not going to hold this against the place until our second visit. Well, the food got worse! The cardboard they serve and call pizza is a shame. We had a party of about 30 people there and the food was pretty much seen the same way by everyone. I asked for extra anchovies and when the dish came with about four or five small molecules of anchovies, I sent it back for more. And when it came back, it had the SAME four or five slivers simply put in different locations! We will never go back to the Fat Olive - even if the food were free, we'd opt not to return. There is no hope of survival in Jinqiao unless they radically increase the quality of their food and their portion sizes. Again, the service was OK and the atmosphere is very nice. But who cares about that if the food sucks..
