Although it recently dropped the all-too descriptive "British" from its name, The Bulldog will always be a good place to hit up if it's pouring rain and you're in the mood for some London pub atmosphere.

Ok, yeah, no sane person goes to the Bulldog specifically to eat, but for all of the hungry drunks out there: ugh. The BLT was a goopy mayo mess with lots of D-grade bacon that was terrifyingly raw-looking. My boyfriend, who is vegetarian, saw that they had a veggie burger on their online menu. Just to make sure it wasn't some sort of internet mirage, he called them 20 minutes before we got there to make sure that it was available that night. The phone-lady assured him that it was available (this conversation happened in Chinese, so there was no language confusion). But of course, when we arrive, the waiter informs us that they don't serve veggie burgers and the kitchen staff confirm this. Um, wtf? They were able to cobble together some sort of quesadilla-type thing for him and it was passable.
We went for the Thursday trivia night with some trivia-obsessed friends. The guy in charge of the trivia stuff was really out of it- like, struggling to contain his boredom, frequently couldn't get his computer to work (because he "like[s] to chew on the power cord"), moved at a snail-like pace, was unable to spell "Colombia", etc. My friends insist that Monday night trivia is way more fun/competently run. Whatevs.

Thursday night Pub Quiz! Something a bit different to do instead of the usual Shanghai club scene...

Great atmosphere, food is ok but I'd rather go for the drink specials (buy 1 get 1 everyday) and the people watching.
